Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was then a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed which was based in Washington DC. Then, she became a Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist and anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell reported on a variety of notable stories, including the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and the arms control. She traveled together with President Ronald Reagan several times to attend summits and discuss matters including and the Iran Contra controversy.
